My personal Experience
Back in 2006 when I was 15 I had
to make one of the hardest choices of my life that would set my future and
career path and that there would be no turning back for me. I come from a
family of 6, 1 brother and 2 sisters. My Father Drove to Dubai on a daily basis
because he worked there, and my mom worked at an oil company and owned 2
businesses at the same time just so that she and my dad can earn enough to pay
for all of our tuition fees on a yearly basis.
And by the time I was 15 my
father proposed the idea of me joining the Adnoc technical Institute where I
would take basic engineering and that I would graduate in a span of 2.5 years
and start working.
Back then I Really didn’t have
much insight of what a Career Path was; I didn’t know what I was getting into.
All I knew is that I was tempted by the fact that I was going to get paid every
semester and that was a plus side for me, not only that they’d pay me to study
but they’d also cover studying expenses, which means my parents don’t have to
spend tuition fees on me anymore.
On my last semester in the year
2009 before I graduated from the Institute, I realized that I didn’t want to go into engineering, as
I got older I grew fonder of biology and that clearly the field that I was in
wasn’t what I wanted. Although I had the choice to back down and pay back the
expenses the institute invested in me, I continued on because I learned how to
like the subject I was in and that people make tough choices every day. I can
always go back to studying one day if I wanted to continue on my masters
degree.
I Chose to sacrifice what I liked
on the long run I don’t think I regret the choices I made instead I learned to
pick something and not lead myself to hate myself for my decisions.
