The ZHO Zayed
higher organization is a special needs center and rehabilitation center for all
ages. At first the whole idea seemed absurd to me when I first knew that I had
to visit the ZHO and it all seemed like I just had to obey the instructions to
score marks . (act of Contractarianism).
Because of the
different varieties of disabilities these children must go through the
evaluating room because they can’t make decisions on their own. It’s like an IQ
test that tests these children on how they interact with each other and see
what their interested in. It really differs a lot from person to person. My
Duty that day was to join the class room and learn how to interact and
communicate with them.
I
feel like I really bonded with the children, although it was kind of difficult
to communicate with them, it was really hard for me because some of them
couldn’t relay what they wanted to say most of the times I would just nod my
head just to show them that I understood them and that I’m really listening to
them. And sometimes there would be some students who are really shy and
reluctant to greet you so I had to make eye contact with them. In a way this
Action is just an act of utilitarianism it may not be the
right thing, nodding and pretending that I understood what they tried to tell
me, but it least made them happy and that they can carry out a conversation and
not feel like they're left out.
For a
Special needs center I was really stunned by how the instructors were, some of
the instructors used really deep voices in order to control the children, which
I thought was really un necessary, during my first visit at the center I saw
how they treated the children and I think it’s immoral of them to treat the
children that way. People who can’t
control their temper and can’t stand to be around “that” kind of an environment
are just wasting their time. This act of Egoism from the instructors probably
comes from the fact that these people are just working there probably for their
own sake of earning, I think the right person who should work instead of these egoistic
instructors should be a person who is a utilitarian. Someone who
could cope and so much patience.
